Do You Know Your Life's Passion

Do You Know Your Life's Passion
Aug 8, 2023
Are you in a career you loved when you embarked on this journey? However, you now feel something has changed. Personally, everything was going well, but now you have lost interest. You do not feel that you know where your life is going and are losing your motivation and drive. Here are 15 questions to ask yourself to allow you to discover your real-life passion.

If you’re lucky, you’ve already discovered many of your passions and get to spend much of your time enjoying things that bring you excitement and joy. However, maybe you’ve not yet connected with activities, skills, and interests that ignite your passion.

This is not always easy to do; it takes time, soul-searching, and some life experience to give you the signs to identify your true passions.

These 15 prompts are ideas to tap into your wants, needs, desires, and fantasies. Have fun with them and discover what you can add to your life to delight you. When you find your passion, or maybe you only need to reignite that which inspires and motivates you, it will spark something inside you.

This will put that spring in your step, enabling you to look forward to getting up in the morning and providing feelings of happiness, confidence, motivation and gratitude.
So ask yourself these questions, answer honestly, and see where this takes you.

1. What’s the one thing I’ve always wanted to do? Consider what would happen for you to carry through with this long-sought wish. If it is something you have not done yet, decide and get started.

2. If I could spend today doing whatever I desire, what would it be? Let your mind go wherever it wants to.  It could be something related to your work, your home, or simply a bit of fun. Remember, you will know it by the feeling you get when the thought arrives.

3. Where do I want to live? What city and what type of home? Perhaps you’re already living this passion and live in your actual first choice. If not, think about possibly moving to a place you’ll love.

4. Where would I like to visit? Maybe you have a secret yearning to visit New York. Or the Bahamas, the streets of Hong Kong may be calling your name or even the Grand Canyon. Can you make it happen?

5. What do I talk about doing but never do it? In a conversation, you might state, “For the last ten years, I’ve wanted to take a cruise to the Caribbean.” or II have always wanted to scuba dive in the Barrier Reef”. Or whatever it is you are thinking now.

 6. What are the reasons I don’t go after my dreams? Explore within yourself why you haven’t pursued the life you want. Can you do something differently to help bring your dreams to life?

 7. How will I finish the sentence, “More than anything, before I die, I want to ___________?” Say it out loud and fill in the blank. Then, figure out a way to accomplish your wish.

8. What things would I want to get rid of in my life? If you’re discovering you don’t love everything about your life, maybe it’s time to do some “decluttering.” Make a list of how you’d like your life to change and plan how you will start doing them.

9. Which people in my life inspire me and why? It’s important to know who inspires you so you can spend more time with them. What is it about them that lights you up so much? Decide to take every step to be inspired more often.

10. If I were to make just one radical change in my life right now to make life better, what would it be? Your answer to this question will open your possibilities. Moving to a bigger city might spice up your life. Getting more education might be a goal; you’ll likely make more money. You’ll be happier if you chase your dreams.

11. How do I feel when I put all my effort into accomplishing one of my goals? Notice these feelings that stir inside you when you have this thought. You’ll no doubt want to experience them more often.

12. How do I feel whenever I achieve a life goal? Excellent, on top of the world, probably. So, what would it be like when you achieve all your goals?

13. What’s missing from my life? Answering this question requires considerable soul-searching. It can be tricky, as you do not always want to hear what comes to mind.

 14. Who are not my biggest supporters? It’s wise to know the people that will not stand behind you and help you pursue your passions, no matter what. Just as earlier, you looked at who in your life inspires you; it is also essential to eliminate those who do not and who are holding you back.

15. After answering all these questions, all that is left to find my true passions is to ask myself - What will I do today to start on my journey to living the life I want?

If you take the time to ponder each of these questions thoroughly, you’ll be pleased with what you discover. Your true passions are inside you, waiting to be found and let loose to bring you excitement, happiness, motivation and love.
